Together with Puri and Konark, Bhubaneswar forms the 'Swarna Tribhuja' the 'Golden Triangle', one of the most visited destinations in East India.
There are many places to visit in Bhubaneswar such as Mukteshwar Temple, Parashurameshwara Temple, The Rajarani Temple, The Orissa State Museum etc. Places to visit around Bhubaneswar are Udaygiri and Khandgiri caves (7 km) are two of the most important sites in the archeological history of India. There are 15 caves in the Udaygiri, out of which Hathigumpha (elephant cave) is the most important. Nandankanan is 20 kms from Bhubaneswar, is famed for its white tiger population and is home to a Zoo and Botanical Garden.

The Bhubaneswar Bus Station is situated at Barmunda, 8 km from the city centre and OSRTC operates a regular fleet of buses connecting Bhubaneswar to various cities in Odisha like Cuttack, Sambalpur, Berhampur, Jeypore, Rourkela and also connects it with the neighbouring states of Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh.
