What to See :

The spell bounded Coonoor is a favorite picnic spot of the state and is also famous as you can find the rare species of birds here. For beauty and scenic lovers this is the best place. The attracting places here include the exciting Sim's Park which is a 12 hectare long park and is situated in the centre or the heart of upper Coonoor. This park got its name after J.D. Sim who was the secretary of the Madras club in the year 1874. There are several botanical gardens also which are partly made in Japanese style and the pants available here are brought from other counties which makes these parks unique.
Apart from the parks the other beautiful sites are the charming lamb's rock, appealing dolphin's nose, dazzling Catherine waterfalls, the Pasteur institute and phonological station.

The hill station is linked with all the major cities of the country by air, road and rail.

By Air :

The nearest airport from Coonoor is in Coimbatore which is at a distance of 72km and can be easily reached through taxis and cabs.

By Train :

The most attracting part of this trip to Coonoor is coming through the toy train which runs between Mettupalayam which is 34 km away and Ooty which is 19 km away. The train leaves for Ooty from Mettupalayam and takes a break at Coonoor which lies between the routes. The train though is not preferred in rainy days and during that tourists can easily get a train from Coimbatore which just takes 3 hours to reach to this place.

By Road :

It is well linked with all the cities and towns of the country by many private and government buses and has a good network especially with the places of south India.
Moving Around: To move within the city countless prepaid taxis, cabs, auto-rickshaws and buses are available which are cheaper and comfortable.
