City Overview :

Kasauli is a small town located in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. It was established in the year1842 by the British rulers and is at a distance of 77km from Shimla and 50 km away from Panchkula with an altitude of 1800 meters. It is a cantonment which has retained its past and heritage. It is one of the smallest town founded and developed by the British Empire and is connected by the kalka shimla road. It is a small town which is famous for brewery and distillery throughout the world.

The best season to visit Kasauli is April to November. Temperature can lower just above freezing point when heavy woolens are required. During summer, the climate is mild and light woolens or cottons are recommended.

What to See :

Kasauli has got many attractive and exciting places for tourist destinations. Monkey point is said to be the highest point and is at a distance of just 4km from the bus stand. It has got an amazing view of the beautiful plains of Chandigarh with the fascinating river Satluj. This hill is of a foot shape and is said that while lord hanuman went to obtain the magical herb also called the sanjivany booty, his foot touched this hill and because of this a historical temple of lord hanuman is also located on the top of the hill. In the starry night one can see the whole town and lighted view of Chandigarh from this point.
Monkey Point : The highest point in Kasauli called Monkey point is just 4-km from the Kasauli bus stand. The Monkey Point commands an excellent view of the distant plains of Chandigarh region and the river Satluj, tracing a silvery trail through the scene. A small temple is also situated on the top of the hill, which is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. According to a legend, at the end of Ramayana when Lord Hanuman was returning from the Himalayas after obtaining Sanjivany Booty or the Magical Herb, his foot touched the hill and thus the top of hill is in a foot shape. On a clear and starry night the gorgeous view of Chandigarh can be seen from the Monkey Point.
Dharampur just 15 km of distance from Kasauli is famous for its renowned hospitals for the treatment of tuberculosis and is connected by road as it's located on the national highway of Kasauli and also by kalka Shimla railway line.
The major tourist destinations of this town includes Sanawar also which is a law school hundred years old and is just 6km from the town. The historical Christ church founded in the year 1844 which has maintained its past glory till now. Dagshai is another cantonment approachable easily by road. It consists of small military schools and other military barracks and is located on a small hill. The distance between Kasauli and dagshai is just 19 km.

Though this is a small town but it is connected with the country by a very wee established network of road and railways.

Shimla and Chandigarh both are close to Kasauli and have airports but the nearest airport is Chandigarh airport for Kasauli while for Solan shimla is the nearest point.

Rail:

Kalka is in Haryana and is approximately 44km of distance from solan and 40 km away from Kasauli which has the railway station and Kasauli and solan are connected from this railway line.

Road:

Buses, taxis and other private coaches are easily and conveniently available in solan and Kasauli.
