Kumarakom is a beautiful collection of numerous islands lies on the Vembanad Lake and is a small village of the state Kerala. It is at a distance of 14km from the town kottayam. The village is bounded by lovely palm trees and dense mangroves, deep waters and blue lagoons are a must to see.

What to See :

Kumarakom was formerly just a Bird Sanctuary developed from the old rubber plantation. But in recent years it has been counted as a beautiful destination to spend holidays which refreshes the mind of the travelers. The exotic bird sanctuary is stretched to about 14 acres of land and is considered as a heaven for birds where countless species of different birds are available. For the animal and bird lovers and also for the scenery lovers this place is a perfect example.

The nearest airport from Kozhikode is in Calicut which is at a distance of 60 kms and after that the next closest airport is Cochin which is 95 kms away.

The closest railway station is at a distance of 16 km from Kottayam which connects the city from all the major part of cities of the country.

Plenty of private and government Buses are available which links the city from many parts of the country. Boats are also served as a means of communication which can be taken from Muhamma located near Alappuzha to Kumarakom Jetty.
